Karin Forrest has taught herself to paint on canvas and board predominantly during the past 5 years.
Her background as a textile designer trained at Leicester Polytechnic and in commercial designs studios in London during the 1970s, has laid foundations in form and colour.
She builds up layers of colours with acrylic or oil washes over a fairly
structured background, defining the underlying shapes by rubbing out areas and
accentuating areas with defined layers of paint.
The overall effect transpires gradually and is worked with as the painting
develops.
